• 06.05.2021; Jersey, UK: JERSEY BREXIT FISHERIES DISPUTE
In a major escalation of the row with France over post-Brexit fishing rights, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has sent two Royal Navy gunships, HMS Tamar and HMS Severn to Jersey. Armed with cannon and machine guns, the vessels that are part of the Fishery Protection Squadron are deploying to Jersey to conduct maritime security patrols.
France has threatened to cut off electricity supply to Jersey, the largest of the Channel Islands that receives 95% of its electricity from France via an undersea cable due to the delay by Britain in issuing new licences to French fishing boats.
The escalation by Boris Johnson has been timed to influence the outcome of elections taking place in the UK today!
