• 21.12.2021: PRINCESS HAYA AWARDED RECORD £554 MILLION DIVORCE
The ex-wife of the ruler of Dubai Princess Haya bint Hussein, has been awarded Britain's biggest ever divorce settlement. Princess Haya will receive a lump sum payment of £251m as part of a 'clean break' from Sheikh Mohammed Al Maktoum, one of the world's richest men, the High Court announced today.
The rest will cover security costs to keep her and the two young children, Jalila, 14, and Zayed, 9, she had with the Sheikh Maktoum, safe from kidnap. The Sheikh who has an estimated £5 billion fortune, must also provide a £290m HSBC bank guarantee for his children, underpinning an £11m annual maintenance payment, as well as ongoing security costs for them as adults, £3m to cover their education and £9.6m in maintenance arrears.
The amount is £900 million less than the original claim for £1.4 billion.
07.10.2021: QUEEN ELIZABETH BANS SHEIKH MAKTOUM FROM ASCOT ROYAL BOX
It has been reported that The Queen will no longer play host to Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum at the Royal Box at Ascot, following a ruling by a judge that he had ordered the phone hacking of his ex-wife Princess Haya and a Tory peer.
It is understood the 72-year-old Dubai ruler will not be back in the prestigious spot alongside Her Majesty at the races, despite years of previous engagments. The Queen is a longstanding friend of both the Sheikh Maktoum and Princess Haya, the Oxford-educated daughter of the late King Hussein of Jordan and she has accepted several horses from the Sheikh even after he was accused in 2019 of kidnapping daughters Princess Shamsa and Princess Latifa.
Sources close to the Dubai royal family confirmed that Princess Haya has left the country and is seeking a divorce.
