THE QUEEN AND DUKE OF EDINBURGH.attended the Maundy Service at Bury St Edmunds Cathedral, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk..During the Royal Maundy Service The Queen distributed the Maundy money to 83 women and 83 men - one for each of The Queen's 83 years..Each recipient received two purses. A red purse containing a £5 coin celebrating the 500th anniversary of the Accession of Henry VIII and a 50p coin to celebrate the founding of Kew Gardens. In the white purse each recipient received 83p in Maundy coins.
