HENRY FRANKLIN WINKLER.has been made an Honorary Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. .The OBE, was presented to him by Sir Nigel Sheinwald, British Ambassador to the United States at a ceremony at the British Embassy in Washington_14/09/2011.The OBE was awarded to Mr Winkler in recognition of his services to children with dyslexia and special educational needs..Mr Winkler, who was diagnosed with dyslexia as an adult, has spent much of the last two years touring the UK, educating school children, educators, and policy makers alike about dyslexia and other learning difficulties. He has also authored 17 books for children about Hank Zipzer, a young man with dyslexia. Zipzer's adventures are based on Mr Winkler's own childhood struggles with school and the resulting bullying..Mr Winkler is most well-known for his portrayal of Arthur Fonzarelli, or "The Fonz," on the TV show Happy Days, a role that garnered him two Golden Globes and three Primetime Emmy nominations.
