one of the world's most famous and prolific screen composers, has died in a clinic in Rome aged 91
Composer-conductor Ennio Morricone, composed more than 400 motion picture scores over a 58-year career for movies such as 'The Good, the Bad and the Ugly', 'The Mission' and 'Cinema Paradiso'.
Morricone, won two Oscars and dozens of others awards including Golden Globes, Grammys and BAFTAs. His best-known compositions include "The Ecstasy of Gold", "Se Telefonando", "Man with a Harmonica", "Here's to You" and the UK No. 2 single "Chi Mai".
In 2007, he received the Academy Honorary Award "for his magnificent and multifaceted contributions to the art of film music." He was nominated for a further six Oscars. Morricone received his first competitive Academy Award for his score to Quentin Tarantino's film The Hateful Eight in 2016, at the time becoming the oldest person ever to win a competitive Oscar
