The Flame of Liberty that has become an unofficial memorial to Princess Diana above the Pont D'Alma tunnel in which Diana's Mercedes crashed into in August 1997, killing her, her lover Dodi Al Fayed, and their driver Henri Paul.
A constant stream of people throughout the day, make the trip to The Flame of Liberty to look at the messages, photographs and view the tunnel. Lovelocks now ring the The Flame of Liberty, while flowers are left on a daily basis.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited “Les Voisins in Action” event 1 kilometre away at the Trocodero posing in front of the Tour Eiffel, that can be seen from The Flame of Liberty. But it is not known if there visited or drove through the Pont D'Alma tunnel.
Despite promises of a memorial for the late Princess, 20 years on there are still no plans for it.
