RISHI SUNAK: A look back on some of the moments of Rishi Sunak’s term as Prime Minister
July 4, 2024 could well be the last day that Rishi Sunak will be Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
Rishi Sunak who is of Indian descent and a Hindu, became the first non-white Prime Minister of the United Kingdom on 25th October 2022. At 42, he became the youngest prime minister since Robert Jenkinson, 2nd Earl of Liverpool in 1812.
After 14 years of the Tories being in power the electorate will be looking for a change despite the uncertainty.
Sadly, a majority of the electorate do have a tendency to vote on the basis of race in the United Kingdom. This was evident in the Conservative Party Leadership contest to succeed Boris Johnson. Sunak received the most votes in each of the series of MP votes, but lost the members' vote to Foreign Secretary Liz Truss.
Sunak’s main opposition is 61-year-old Sir Keir Starmer, the leader of the Labour Party.
