PRINCE WILLIAM .has successfully completed the final phase of his RAF helicopter flying training and is now a fully-qualified Search and Rescue pilot. Flight Lieutenant Wales recently passed the last stage of the Operational Conversion Unit (OCU) course at Royal Air Force Valley, Wales and will join Number 22 Squadron, C Flight as a fully-operational pilot flying the Sea King Mk3 helicopter after his graduation in mid-September. During the seven month OCU course Prince William undertook 70 hours of flying training (plus 50 hours of simulator training) and learnt how to manoeuvre the Sea King helicopter with pinpoint accuracy. The training included day and night flying and training to provide a life-saving rescue service to both military personnel and civilians in the UK; rescuing people from the sea, on mountains, from flooded regions or other areas on land, in all weathers. One of the final elements of the course was a two-day exercise during which students, accompanied by instructors, were tested on a wide range of simulated rescue sorties to prove their ability to work as fully integrated members of the Search and Rescue Force. Prince William has been training to become a fully operational pilot in the RAF for the last 18 months, having completed his fixed-wing, basic and advanced helicopter training before embarking on the Search and Rescue Conversion Course_17/10/2010.Mandatory Credit Photo: ©Carnall/NEWSPIX INTERNATIONAL..**ALL FEES PAYABLE TO: "NEWSPIX INTERNATIONAL"**..IMMEDIATE CONFIRMATION OF USAGE REQUIRED:.Newspix International, 31 Chinnery Hill, Bishop's Stortford, ENGLAND CM23 3PS.Tel:+441279 324672 ; Fax: +441279656877.Mobile: 07775681153.e-mail: info@newspixinternational.co.uk
