unveils a plaque during a visit to the Central Synagogue in central London to commemorate the 85th Anniversary of Kristallnacht. Kristallnacht took place on Novermber 9, 1938 in Germany, when Nazis burned 267 synagogues and destroyed thousands of Jewish homes and businesses, smashing windows. The Kindertransport scheme saved the lives of more than 10,000 Jewish children from the Nazi regime, and was organised immediately after the anti-Jewish violence of Kristallnacht.
